What is important to consider in an occupational health consultation? Check out the downloadable guide!
Tripartite discussion, tripartite negotiation, occupational health negotiation, work ability negotiation. This discussion, which is a key part of the early support model, has many names, although the most accurate term is occupational health negotiation.
An occupational health negotiation is arranged when an employee’s work ability requires an assessment in relation to the demands of the job. Most often, the initiative for the negotiation is taken by the employer, the employee themselves or an occupational health care representative. The employer may have noticed that the employee is not performing his or her duties as before, or the employee himself or herself has noticed challenges in his or her own coping skills or coping at work.
The aim of the negotiation is to adjust the employee’s work tasks to suit his or her current work ability, and thus support the employee’s work ability and coping skills at work. The negotiation serves both the employer and the employee, because when the negotiation is arranged at an early stage, the employee’s work ability declines and long periods of sick leave are prevented.
